U15 St Matthew’s Academy & Ardrossan Academy Vs Largs Academy
28/05/2015

An U15 fixture was played on Thursday afternoon for the S3 age group at academy. This was played with St Matthew’s Academy and Ardrossan Academy combining to play Largs Academy at Ardrossan Rugby Club. The match was 13-a-side played in dry conditions inbetween the showers throughout the day! There was some excellent offloading rugby played in slippery conditions with good performances from both teams leading to a close match with St Matthew’s/Ardrossan proving eventual winners 27-22 with a try in the final play.  Was a really good game and from it hopefully we can see some more of the promising players along at the Club on a more regular basis.

Although the weather was not on our side it still wasn’t enough to dampen the participant’s spirits for it was a truly exciting day of rugby.  Four schools from the local area attended a boys and girls tournament which consisted of Caledonia, Ardreer, St Lukes and Dykemains Primaries. These schools had undertaken a 6 week rugby block delivered by our Ardrossan Accies Development Team.

Lochinch girls U15 tournament
20/05/2015
Last week U15 girls from Ardrossan Academy, Largs Academy and Arran Academy travelled to Lochinch to play in a girls U15 tournament. We travelled with two sides, an Ardrossan/Largs combined side and an Arran High School who were playing in their first event as a team. The Ardrossan/Largs girls played 4 games winning 1 showing some improved skills within the contact area and growing confidence in their running. The Arran girls played excellent in their debut being very physical in their running and tackling while also showing lovely hand skills with their offloading and passing ability. Impressive rugby from all the girls involved and with the improving numbers between the Schools there is confidence that there could be potential for a new Girls Club side. view more»
Ardrossan Accies U15 versus Greenock U15
18/05/2015

This was the first Accies home game for nearly three months but it was definitely worth the wait. Our opponents today were Greenock, our first meeting of the season and a bit of a grudge match as our Largs lads were playing a few classmates in Greenock colours. To be fair the Greenock team incorporated 5 Irvine lads to make up numbers so this was a completely new line up for them....
